Waterfalls : The waterfalls of Joranda, Barehipani and Newani are an excellent example of Nature's beauty. The picturesque falls are an ideal location for family outings.
Haripur (16 kms) : Founded by Maharaja Harihar Bhanj in 1400 A.D, Haripur was once the capital of Mayurbhanj State. The place is famous for the Rasikaraya temple. The Radha Mohan temple is in rectangular shape made up of bricks while Goudiya style architecture prevails in the Jagannath temple. The ruins of the Ranihansapura which was the inner apartment meant for the queen can be seen in the courtyards of the Rasikaraya temple.
Kuliana (18 kms) : This place is famous for its Paleolithic articles.
Deokund (55 kms) : The place is famous for the shrine of deity Ambika located at the hill top. The 50 ft waterfall enhances the beauty of the location.
Bhimakunda (162 kms) : The reservoir is believed to be present from the time of Pandavas and the legend says that the 2nd Pandava Bhim used to take bath in this kund during their stay in Biratnagar. The River Baitarani flows here. The area is the favorite destination for the picnickers because of its calm and peaceful serenity.
Baripada : Baripada is the district headquarters. The place is famous for its colorful festival 'Chaitra Parva', the palace of the erstwhile ruler of Mayurbhanj and the temples of Jagannath and Ambika. One of the main attractions of the Rath Yatra of Baripada being that the chariot of deity Shubhadra is pulled only by females here.

Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary : This sanctuary is famous for its Mangrove ecosystem, creeks, brooks, Rivers and estuaries. The sanctuary is also the breeding ground for the salt water crocodiles and many more important flora and fauna of the tropical and subtropical inter tidal region.
Garhimatha Sanctuary : This Sanctuary is an UNESCO site because of being the nesting ground for the thousands of Olive Ridley Turtles.
Nandankanan Sanctuary : This garden of the gods has the botanical garden and the national park within the same premises making it a place for immense importance amongst the nature lovers. The sanctuary has contributed significantly towards many researches and studies on the flora and fauna of the region, one bright example is the successful mating of the White Tigers which is one of the rarest species and facing serious threat of extinction.
