Jagannath Temple: The deities of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra are enshrined within this magnificent temple, and visited by thousands of devotees everyday. This 12th century temple is known for the colorful Rath Yatra and numerous other festivals it celebrates throughout the year.
Bhubaneswar: The capital city is just 60 km from Puri, and lends easy access to tourists from across India. The Lingaraj temple, Nandankan Zoo, the Khandagiri and Udaygiri caves are interesting sights to visit while in Bhubaneswar.
Konark Temple: The beauty of this splendid monument has to be seen to be believed. Dedicated to the Sun God, the temple faces the sea and functioned as a lighthouse for mariners who sailed to Indian shores.
Dhauli: A Buddhist heritage site with great historical significance. It marks the site where Emperor Ashoka pledged his life for the welfare of the citizens of Kalinga, and his appeal to his bureaucrats to follow the same path.
Pipli: A colorful town showcasing the best of appliqué art in bright, vibrant colours. En route to Bhubaneswar, you can stop by to watch the artisans at work
Chilika Lake: This is a unique brackish water lake cut off from the Bay of Bengal by a string of sand bars, and home to a staggering range of bird species. It has unique marine and riverine life, and dolphins are a major draw here. Short cruises can be made to the islands on the lake.
